Mission Rooted in the BWDA Movement
The mission of the college cannot be separated from the larger BWDA movement. BWDA was established on 2 October 1985 to serve bullock cart workers, laborers, rural artisans, poor women, and children in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Puducherry, and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Over time, its work expanded through self-help groups, livelihood support, financial inclusion, education, and social development programmes. The college emerged from this social commitment as a direct response to the educational barriers faced by low-income families who wanted better futures for their children.

In practice, the mission means creating a campus where affordability, discipline, guidance, and aspiration work together. It means recognizing education as one of the most effective tools for poverty reduction, gender equity, and long-term community development.
